MY STORY
From a young age, I knew I really liked 3 things:
Making art
Math, particularly the problem solving
People
Those particular affinities have allowed me to wear many hats already in my life.
ABOUT ME
Drawing, teamwork, helping people, creative solutions, human-centered design, math problems galore; Civil & Environmental Engineering has it all.
As an engineer I had the opportunity to work as a Project Manager, CAD Designer and outreach specialist, mostly on sustainable design projects. The common thread being: meticulously pouring over the details, and interacting with people.
ENGINEERING
During my senior year I started doing AutoCAD and rendering commissions, being brought on by the lead PM of one of my school projects.
I continued freelancing post-graduation, during which I independently maintained a consistent workload, designing for various interior designers, architects, and general contractors.
CAD DESIGN
But I wanted to find a more traditional path that could combine my creative and technical skillsets, so I interned for an Interior Design firm.
It was during my internship that I had my first taste of UI/UX design. My proposed document and branding styling redesign soon turned into a complete overhaul of their website. Afterwards I returned to freelance work, and applied to Northwestern’s UI/UX program, fascinated by that intersection of technology, design and psychology.
INTERIOR DESIGN
UI/UX Design; the perfect intersection of artistry, psychology and technology.
It was in Northwestern’s program that I first had the chance to develop digital products from ideation to execution, execute hundreds of user interviews, synthesize data into insights, craft storytelling visuals and more. I now have extensive experience evaluating heuristics, ideating and prioritizing features, streamlining information architecture, and executing usability and accessibility testing. I’m passionate about specifying styling elements to enhance a brand’s story. I’ve build code frameworks in HTML5 for webpages, styling with CSS and JavaScript, organized in a GitHub repository. With an eye for elevated design and a passion for optimization, I aim to create designs people actually want to interact with again.
